What Would You Do if you saw someone steal a homeless persons belongings? Friday on “Primetime: What Would You Do?”

“Primetime: What Would You Do” airs Friday Nights @ 8pm on WDAY/WDAZ.

When People See a Situation that Cries Out for Action, Do They Step in, Back Away or Just Walk on by?

Friday February 3 scenarios include:

-Stealing from Homeless:  Will anyone intervene when they witness someone stealing from a homeless person sitting on a sidewalk, begging for money? “What Would You Do?” plays out the scenario with the “thief” as a dressed-up businessman, a dressed-down man and a woman.

-Bridezilla/Unhelpful Bridal Consultant: There are shows all over television about it – brides with an insatiable appetite for being the most irrational and mean customer a salesperson could ever have. Will anyone step in when they see a bridezilla in action? And what will happen when the tables are turned and the bridal salesperson is anything but helpful – even downright rude to the customer? Will bystanders intervene?

-Little Emperors/Mom Abuse:What would you do if you saw a young child hitting and verbally abusing mom when the child does not get his/her way? What if it were an older kid threatening to violently take action against his mom, who happens to already have a black eye?

Using hidden cameras, “Primetime: What Would You Do?” establishes everyday scenarios and then captures people’s reactions. Whether people are compelled to act or mind their own business, John Qui–ones reports on their split-second and often surprising decision-making process. “Primetime: What Would You Do?” airs FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3 (8:00-9:00 p.m., CST on WDAY/WDAZ) on ABC. “Primetime: What Would You Do?” has won awards from the Chicago International Television Festival, and the Avon Foundation’s 2006 Voice of Change award for exposing “injustice and wrongdoing against women and bringing the message of domestic violence to the mainstream.” The Columbia Journalism Review has called the program “a Candid Camera of Ethics.”David Sloan is executive producer and Danielle Baum Rossen is the senior broadcast producer of “What Would You Do?”

When Junk Science is used to Rip one Family Apart; Friday on :20/20″

“20/20″ airs Friday nights @ 9pm on WDAY/WDAZ.
Was it a warranted criminal investigation or a witch hunt orchestrated by a prosecution obsessed with putting a father in prison for life?  Julian and Tali Wendrow were so desperate to help their autistic daughter, Aislinn, that they tried Facilitated Communication, which turned out to be a discredited technique when used to communicate with autistic people. But after the so-called “miracle cure” seemed to initially open up their daughter’s silent world, it opened up a world of trouble: out of nowhere came allegations of unspeakable abuse. Could their daughter now communicate and, if so, was what she communicated to be believed? Prosecutors certainly thought so – ignoring a mountain of evidence that Facilitated Communication was a sham, and failing to question whether Aislinn was being manipulated by her facilitator.
It is an investigation a Federal Judge called “a runaway train,” including a shocking videotaped police interrogation of Wendrow’s teenage son. Julian languished in jail for months, facing 75 years behind bars if convicted, while the children were torn from their home – until a dramatic courtroom confrontation where all was revealed.
Chris Cuomo reports on a story that the family at the center says serves as a warning for all… when the justice system goes wrong, anyone can become a target when prosecutors rely on junk science to file charges. “20/20″ airs on FRIDAY, JANUARY 6 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Diane Sawyer reports on the overmedication of Children in the U.S. foster care system; Tomorrow on 20/20

“20/20″ airs Fridays @ 9pm on WDAY/WDAZ.

“ABC World News” anchor Diane Sawyer continues her reporting on the U.S. foster care system with a new series of reports – “Generation Meds.”

Following a year-long investigation, Sawyer and Sharyn Alfonsi uncover a startling reality: many foster children, even as young as one-year olds, are being prescribed powerful mind-altering drugs at alarming rates — up to 13 times higher than that of other children. As part of its investigation, ABC News was given an exclusive first look at a groundbreaking two-year study by the General Accounting Office (GAO) which finds that the federal government has not done enough to protect America’s foster children from being over medicated with these powerful drugs. Reports began airing on “World News with Diane Sawyer” on Wednesday, November 30, and will conclude with this special report on “20/20,” FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2 (9:00-10:00 p.m., CST on WDAY/WDAZ) on the ABC Television Network.
