ABC New “PRIMETIME NIGHTLINE” Series

ABC NEWS “NIGHTLINE” LAUNCHES “PRIMETIME NIGHTLINE” SUMMER SERIES

13 ONE-HOUR SPECIALS START WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22

BEYOND BELIEF:  TWIN-TUITION, THE MIRICLE MYSTERIES, BATTLE WITH THE DEVIL, PSYCHIC POWER AND NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCES

ABC News’ 13-week primetime summer series, “Primetime Nightline” premieres Wednesday, June 22 at 9pm on WDAY/WDAZ, with a five-part investigation into the realm of the extra-sensory, the spiritual, and the experiences many call beyond belief.

“Sometimes the most interesting trips are the ones that take you places you never thought you’d go.  These are mysteries in the most profound sense,” said “Nightline” executive producer Jeanmarie Condon.  “Stories that defy proof and perception are the ultimate adventure – and perfect for summer – to kick off our 13 specials.”

The five installments of “Beyond Belief” begin airing Wednesday, June 22 at 9:00pm on WDAY/WDAZ and continue on the four subsequent Wednesdays:

Wednesday, June 22: Juju Chang investigates “Twin-tuition,” the special connection between twins that allows some siblings to share a language, know what the other is thinking, or share physical sensations across distances.  If twins can communicate on a level that defies physical and space time constraints, what does that mean for the rest of us?

Wednesday, June 29: “Nightline” co-anchor Bill Weir journeys from Nazareth and Rwanda to Spain, Bosnia, and across the U.S. to explore “The Miracle Mysteries.” These destinations have become pilgrimage sites for people who believe profoundly that the Virgin Mary has appeared to and communicated with ordinary people.

Wednesday, July 6: “Nightline” co-anchor Terry Moran takes a closer look at the “Battle with the Devil,” a resurgent belief that satanic will or demon possession cause acts of evil.

Wednesday, July 13: Juju Chang and others unravel the power of the 21st century psychic. “Psychic Power” features a medium to the stars, psychic addicts who can’t make a decision without consulting a clairvoyant, and people who believe their pets are psychic.

Wednesday, July 20: Bob Woodruff unlocks the mysteries of what he remembers in the terrible minutes after his vehicle hit an improvised explosive device and he saw his body floating below in a kind of whiteness.  He speaks with others who report the same type of out of body experience and theologians, preachers, neurologists, psychologists, and anthropologists for “The Other Side.”

“Nightline’s” summer series builds on the success of a four-part exploration of the mystery and the science of the brain that aired in primetime last year.

ABC News’ “Nightline” is anchored by Cynthia McFadden, Terry Moran and Bill Weir. John Donvan and Juju Chang are correspondents. Jeanmarie Condon is the Executive Producer. The program airs weeknights at 10:35 p.m., on WDAY/WDAZ.

New ABC Special “CAUGHT IN THE ACT”

“CAUGHT IN THE ACT” — AMAZING EVENTS CAUGHT ON TAPE

Chris Cuomo Anchors An ABC News Special

Airing Wednesday, June 15, 9pm on WDAY/WDAZ

From toxic neighbors to dumb criminals to animal criminals to kids surviving jaw dropping situations, “Caught in the Act,” an ABC News Special, showcases incredible events all caught on tape.

Attempted Murder or Reality TV Show?: A woman who allegedly plotted to kill her husband could never have imagined that it would end up caught on undercover videotape. But, in a crazy twist – when she gets charged with attempted murder – her defense is that it was never a real plot but an attempt to create buzz for a reality TV show. Andrea Canning reports.

Kids in Trouble: Every parent knows that if they let their guard down for just a moment, their young child could wander away and fall victim to an accident. “Caught in the Act” has dramatic video of babies and toddlers in such trouble – the good news is that, despite all the odds, they escape unharmed. Chris Cuomo reports.

Nasty Neighbors: They say good fences make nasty neighbors. But what about video cameras and the internet? They are increasingly playing a role in neighborhood feuds, resulting in bickering to high drama – all caught on tape. Jim Avila reports on this eye-opening trend.

Dumb Criminals: From robbers who forget to put on their masks to bungling bandits who can’t figure out how to open doors, it’s all captured on surveillance cameras. As Chris Cuomo reports, the proliferation of security cameras combined with video sharing sites have led to an unprecedented look at the world of dumb criminals.

Animal Thieves: From Dusty the Klepto Kitten who has stolen approximately 600 items from his neighbors in the middle of the night including bras and underwear; to Kiera the shoplifting Husky; to Willy the breaking and entering raccoon; to the booze-bandit monkeys of St. Kitts who steal bar drinks from unsuspecting tourists, not all “criminals” are human. “Caught in the Act” introduces viewers to some of the animals bound by having their mischievous acts caught on tape. John Berman reports.

Mavs offense grabs win, and take 3-2 Finals lead over the Heat

Dirk Nowitzki has another A game performance with 29 points and leads the Mavericks to one win away from being NBA Champs.  LeBron James recorded a Triple Double with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists though it was for not as the Heat need to win back to back games at home to win the title.  “I could have made a couple more plays for my team…But all it’s about is a win or a loss,” said LeBron.

Bad news for the Heat as Dwayne Wade collided with Mavs Forward Brian Cardinal and was said to have a left hip contusion.  Wade returned to the game, but appeared to be limping at various points after.  “I don’t talk about injuries…It was unfortunate I had to leave the game, but I came back and finished it” said Wade; he finished with 23 points.

Both teams shot very well from the field, Mavs 56% and the Heat shot 53%.  The true tale behind the numbers was how Dallas was able to hit the 3 and shot just over 68% from 3.

Big game 6 coming up next in Miami; Dallas needs to win one of the next two games to be world Champs.

Game 6 in Miami this Sunday @ 7pm on WDAY/WDAZ.

If the Mavericks win and Dirk is MVP, do you consider him a Hall of Famer?

Mavs win Back and Forth Thriller to tie Finals at 2

Another down to the wire game, which had 15 ties and 12 lead changes as the Dallas Mavericks tie the series at 2 a piece.  Mavericks Forward Dirk Nowitzki battled a 101 degree fever to score 21 points, 10 of which were in the fourth quarter and in a clutch moment late in the game he drove to the hoop and made a tough basket over Udonis Haslem and Dwayne Wade to help secure the victory.  “This is the Finals.  You’re going to leave it out there…You have to go out there and compete and try your best for your team, so that’s what I did,” said Nowitzki.

This game more then the previous 3 games, the Mavericks supporting cast helped out Dirk immensely as Jason Terry had 17 points, Shawn “The Matrix” Marion scored 16 and Tyson Chandler had 13 points and 16 rebounds.

For the Heat Dwayne Wade scored 32 points and continued his dominance over Jason Kidd, though Wade fumbled the ball in the with seconds left in the game and missed out on a shot attempt.  Chris Bosh had a solid game and scored 24 points.  LeBron James had a postseason low 8 points and went 3 for 11 from the field and was the first time in 434 consecutive games James didn’t score in double figures.  James’ teams are 0-8 in the playoffs when he scores less than 15 points.

Game 5 is this Thursday in Dallas @ 8pm on WDAY/WDAZ.  Pregame @ 7:30pm and Jimmy Kimmel Game Night at 7pm.

Who is your Finals MVP thus far?

Couric, the former “Today” co-anchor who was most recently anchor and managing editor of the “CBS Evening News with Katie Couric,” a “60 Minutes” correspondent and host of the weekly online interview series, @katiecouric, will be reunited with Jeff Zucker, who will be an executive producer with Couric on the yet-to-be-named syndicated series, which will be based in New York and produced in conjunction with Disney/ABC.

We look forward to having Katie join the best News team in the business, and to working with her to create a dynamic and successful talk show franchise.”

Ms. Couric added: “I’m very happy to be returning to the network where I began my career as a desk assistant in 1979. It is tremendously exciting to have the creative freedom to develop my own show with Anne Sweeney, the Disney/ABC TV Group and Jeff, and to contribute to such a vibrant, innovative news division. I can’t wait to be part of this incredibly talented, visionary team.”

“It was a blast working with Katie at ‘Today’ and I’m excited to do it again,” said Zucker. “And besides, it should be more fun spending time with Katie at 3 or 4 in the afternoon than at 3 or 4 in the morning.”

Heat Dunk their way past Mavs in NBA Finals Game 3!

Finals Game 3 ended with Dallas Mavericks Forward/Center Dirk Nowitzki’s final seconds Jumper, which was defended very well by Miami Heat Forward Udonis Haslem, but the basket was no good and Miami now takes a 2-1 lead in the NBA Finals.

“That’s a make-able shot, but ‘UD’ (Udonis Haslem) did a great job of keeping his chest in front of him and forcing him into a fade-away.” ~ Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra

Miami had 8 dunks, and were clearly in “attack mode” after suffering a loss in game 2 when the Mavs had one of the best comeback wins in NBA Finals history.

Dwayne Wade put up another fantastic performance with 29 points and 11 rebounds.  Lebron James chipped in with 17 and 9 assists.  Nowitzki lead the Mavericks with 34 points and 11 rebounds.
